The Captain Claims the Colac Cup
Friday, 20 Feb 2026

On Friday at Colac the long range plan came together nicely with tough galloper Active Duty claiming the 2026 Colac Cup.
After a good Spring campaign that netted a couple of benchmark race wins, he was given a short break to aim up at some country cups including the Camperdown and Colac cups. Sent out a very short priced favourite after a bold second placing at Caulfield, Yendall sent Active Duty forward in his customary role where he was able to dictate terms early. Under pressure from well before the bend, the Captain kept finding and staved off the challenge from high priced imports Gregolimo and Mr Waterville, and willed himself to the line.
It was incredible to see such a massive group of, mostly local, owners out there on the day and I'm sure it's an experience they'll never forget. There are exciting times head for this group of owners who will likely head towards the Darwin Cup in August via the Alice Springs Cup.
